AML/CFT Policy
Effective date: 25 September 2026
Infrastructure Bank Tanzania is committed to preventing its advisory services from being used for money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, fraud, or other unlawful activity. This statement explains the principles we apply when engaging with infrastructure project sponsors, investors, financiers, and other business partners.
Our Role
Infrastructure Bank Tanzania is a financial advisory company. We help connect infrastructure projects in Tanzania with potential local and international investors and financiers. We are not a commercial bank, retail bank, or deposit-taking institution, and this website does not accept deposits or investments.
Identity and Business Verification
Before entering an advisory relationship or making a project introduction, we may request information needed to understand the parties involved. This may include identity documents, company registration details, ownership and control information, the purpose of the relationship, and relevant project documents.
We may take additional steps where a person, organisation, transaction, or project presents a higher risk. Information provided to us must be accurate, complete, and kept up to date.
Understanding Funding and Project Activity
We seek to understand the nature of a proposed infrastructure project, its financing needs, and the role of each participant. Where appropriate, we may ask about the source of funds, the source of wealth, and the intended use of financing. We may decline or end an engagement if we cannot obtain satisfactory information.
Screening and Ongoing Review
We may screen relevant parties against applicable sanctions lists and assess whether a party is a politically exposed person or presents another heightened risk. We may review information again as a project or business relationship develops.
Suspicious Activity
We do not knowingly support transactions involving unlawful funds or prohibited parties. Where we identify concerning information, we may pause or decline an engagement, seek further documents, or take other appropriate action. We will make any report to a competent authority where required by applicable law.
Records, Confidentiality, and Staff Awareness
We maintain relevant due diligence and engagement records in accordance with applicable requirements. Access to this information is limited to those who need it for legitimate business, compliance, or legal purposes. Our personnel are expected to raise concerns through internal procedures and receive guidance appropriate to their responsibilities.
Your Responsibilities
Project sponsors, investors, financiers, and partners must provide truthful information and cooperate with reasonable verification requests. Submission of a proposal or enquiry does not guarantee acceptance, an investor introduction, or financing.
